The bare minimum. That's too much work for me.
Getting up in the morning. I can almost manage that. I woke up at 8pm tonight. Went out for breakfast on Glebe Point Road at 9:30 in the evening. Unfortunately the pool wasn't open for my morning swim, as it was nearing midnight.
Yes, the bare minimum.
But, money makes the world goes round and buys my coffee and books, so I need money. But how am I expected to get a paying job when I'm so busy sleeping and the like? Besides, I'm fully university educated in communications. Getting a job as anything except a Hollywood Film Director or Television News Reader would be a waste of my talents. Of course, I'm kidding and would be quite willing to accept a job a little lower down the employment scale: highly paid non-linear editor would do me fine. But unfortunately, everyone in the industry tells me that the only way to break in anywhere is to do volunteer unpaid work experience for 6-18 months.
That's all well and good, but I've already had 6 months of unpaid work (well, payment in the form of lots of free movie tickets anyways). So why would I want to sign up for more unpaid exploitative work? I'd love a job, but I don't love being exploited, so I've worked with the Federal Government to establish a brand new scheme: Work For The Coffee.
Let's face it, what's the main thing I spend my money on anyways? Coffee! So, I'd be willing to do unpaid volunteer work if, in exchange I got free espresso coffees and my transport concession card back. Is that too much to ask? Hell, I'd willingly edit Star Wars Episode II for a few free daily mochas and a half priced travelten. So, what do you say Johnny Howard? Hows about finally reward those of us working for free to get our careers off the ground and provide for Australia's future. Hows about giving us some free coffees.
To quote Henry Miller: "What need have I for money?". He's right, to quote The Beatles: "All you need is caffiene!".
"Get a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life" - Confuscious.
Personally, I prefer, "Never work a day in your life and you'll never work a day in your life" - Me.
